Trenchless Sewer Repair in Portland, ME
Drain-&-Sewer Team Serving Portland, Maine Homes & Businesses
Sewer line problems don’t have to mean a torn-up yard. Trenchless sewer repair repairs pipes from the inside, using small access points instead of open trenches and preserving lawns, driveways, and landscaping in the process. At Zoom Drain of New England, we perform trenchless sewer repair for residential and commercial properties throughout Portland, Maine and the surrounding area. Our technicians focus solely on drain and sewer work, and they arrive in fully equipped service trucks ready to diagnose and repair the problem.
Portland, ME has a housing stock where many sewer laterals are several decades old, made from clay, Orangeburg, or cast iron. These materials degrade over time, and when they fail, trenchless methods can be a practical way to restore service without disturbing the property around the pipe.
Ready to stop guessing and get a diagnosis? Call (207) 495-7793 or contact us online to schedule trenchless sewer repair in Portland, ME.
Why Portland Property Owners Choose Zoom Drain of New England
We don’t offer trenchless sewer repair as a side service. Drain and sewer work is all we do, which means our technicians bring focused diagnostic experience to every trenchless job. When a technician arrives at your property, they’re not dividing attention across unrelated plumbing repairs.
- Flat-rate pricing: We give you the price before work begins. No hidden fees, no surprises on the invoice.
- Property protection: We protect your home or business during service and keep disruption to a minimum.
- Reliable warranties: We stand behind our trenchless sewer repair work with warranties and ongoing support.
- Residential and commercial service: We serve homeowners and commercial property managers across Portland and the surrounding region.
- Communication throughout: We keep you informed at every stage, from inspection findings to completed repair.
Trenchless Sewer Repair Methods We Use in Portland
Two methods cover the majority of trenchless sewer line situations. The right choice depends on what a video inspection reveals about the pipe’s condition and material.
Pipe Bursting
Pipe bursting is used for trenchless sewer line replacement in Portland when the existing pipe has deteriorated beyond repair. A bursting head pulls through the old pipe, fracturing it outward while simultaneously installing a new pipe in its place. The old material is displaced into the surrounding soil. This method can be well-suited for clay or Orangeburg lines that have collapsed or deformed significantly.
Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) Lining
Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining is the method we use for sewer pipe relining in Portland when the existing pipe retains enough structural integrity to serve as a host. A resin-saturated liner is inserted into the pipe and cured in place, forming a seamless new pipe wall from the inside. The epoxy liners used in this process are durable and built for long-term performance. CIPP lining works well for cracked, root-infiltrated, or corroded pipes that haven’t fully collapsed.
Both methods require only small access points rather than a trench across your property, and trenchless sewer repairs are often completed in a single day. Avoiding excavation also can reduce the total project cost by eliminating landscape restoration after the work is done.
Trenchless Sewer Repair & Portland’s Aging Infrastructure
Established Portland, ME neighborhoods frequently have mature trees, hardscaped yards, and driveways that homeowners have no interest in tearing up. Trenchless methods are a direct answer to that reality. Many properties across Cumberland County and York County share the same aging sewer lateral profile: mid-20th-century clay or Orangeburg pipe that is at or past its service life and increasingly vulnerable to root intrusion and corrosion.
The City of Portland itself uses trenchless technology to rehabilitate its own sewer infrastructure when conditions allow, reflecting how accepted this approach has become in the local market. Sewer line repair in Portland typically requires a permit and inspection to meet local codes. We handle permitting as part of the project so you’re not navigating that process on your own.

Joe did an exceptional job of snaking and clearing our clogged tub drain. He even reconfigured our broken wall drain stopper. Joe was knowledgeable, well-spoken, and courteous. He left all work areas neat and clean. We highly recommend Joe and will use him again should we encounter another clogged drain issue.M C

Zoom Drain came through again! Prompt and professional service. Tristan and his assistant were amazing!Bill Thompson
We had raw sewage back feeding into the cellar. From the first phone call for help to getting the issue resolved was excellent. Super courteous and excellent service. Joe, the service technician, knew the job was too big for his rig. He called in the big guns, city workers. Working together they were able to clear the main lines, and everything is back up and draining smoothly. Thank you, Zoom team. You guys did a great job.Michael Martel
Had Zoom Drain scope an outside drainage pipe under my driveway. Evan explained the process, marked all the problem areas, and provided a thumb drive with the scope video on it. Offered other services to fix problems, but I already have a fix in place. This is the second time I have used Zoom Drain and will definitely use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.Peter Kelley
Prompt, quick, and thorough. They were great communicators of what they were doing at every step and gave me a plan and options for the future. Even though my issue wasn't drain related (thank goodness!), I'm so glad I had them come out. Worth the expense for the security.Christina Michaud
Came out same day and was able to get the clog free and the camera down the drain that no one else could do. Now we know who to call from now on.Crystal Cartonio
Most wonderful experience! Joe, the technician from the Scarborough location, really knew his stuff and did great work. Would recommend to anybody.Thomas Stone
Joe was great!! He was super thorough, knowledgeable, and honest. He answered all our questions and discussed different options with us. We'll be requesting him in the future. I liked the flat-rate pricing as opposed to an hourly rate. It helps you know what you're getting upfront. I know they've got to pay workers extra for off-hours and holidays, but the emergency fee still did seem a bit exorbitant. But maybe it's standard for the industry. I don't have enough experience to know. They were at least upfront and clear about it. We'll still be calling them again, though, for more yearly service, and we'll just hope to avoid emergency calls in the future.Jessica Zee Price
