Emergency Sewer Repair in Portland, ME
24/7 Sewer Emergency Service from a Drain & Sewer Team
When a sewer line fails, every hour counts. Sewage backups, pipe collapses, and severe blockages that completely stop wastewater flow create health hazards and property damage that can worsen the longer they go unaddressed. Zoom Drain of New England has served Southern Maine since October 2016 with one focus: drains and sewers. That focus means the technician who arrives at your Portland, ME property isn’t a generalist pulled from another job. It’s someone trained specifically for this.
We offer 24/7 emergency service, including nights, weekends, and holidays, for both residential and commercial customers throughout the Portland area.
A sewer emergency can’t wait for a callback window. Call (207) 495-7793 now, and we can dispatch a technician in a Fully Equipped Truck ready to diagnose and address the problem on the first visit.
What Sets Us Apart When You Need It Most
Four things distinguish Zoom Drain of New England from a general plumber taking emergency calls:
Flat-Rate Pricing
Our Flat-Rate Pricing holds even during emergencies. You’ll know the full cost before any work begins. No surprise charges because the call came in at midnight.
Fully Equipped Trucks
Our trucks carry the diagnostic and repair equipment needed for most sewer emergencies. We don’t schedule a return trip to pick up parts. We come prepared to work.
Sewer and Drain Specialization
We don’t do general plumbing. Every technician on our team is trained specifically in sewer systems, which means faster diagnosis and more precise repairs.
Certified, Background-Checked Technicians
Our technicians are certified professionals who pass thorough background checks. Since 2016, we’ve tripled our fleet and quadrupled our team, all while maintaining those standards.
When a Sewer Problem Becomes an Emergency
Not every slow drain is a crisis. These situations are:
- Multiple drains backing up simultaneously throughout the building can signal a main sewer line failure, not an isolated clog.
- Sewage odors inside the building or surfacing in the yard can indicate active sewage escape, a direct health and environmental hazard from contaminated water exposure.
- Gurgling sounds from toilets and drains when water runs elsewhere can suggest pressure buildup from a blocked or collapsed line.
- Standing water or sinkholes forming in the yard along the sewer line path can point to a collapsed or leaking pipe underground.
- Sewage backing up through floor drains or the lowest fixtures in a building can confirm a complete main line blockage requiring immediate service.
Delaying emergency sewer repair allows sewage to saturate surrounding soil, which can undermine foundations and drive remediation costs far higher.

Joe did an exceptional job of snaking and clearing our clogged tub drain. He even reconfigured our broken wall drain stopper. Joe was knowledgeable, well-spoken, and courteous. He left all work areas neat and clean. We highly recommend Joe and will use him again should we encounter another clogged drain issue.M C

Zoom Drain came through again! Prompt and professional service. Tristan and his assistant were amazing!Bill Thompson
We had raw sewage back feeding into the cellar. From the first phone call for help to getting the issue resolved was excellent. Super courteous and excellent service. Joe, the service technician, knew the job was too big for his rig. He called in the big guns, city workers. Working together they were able to clear the main lines, and everything is back up and draining smoothly. Thank you, Zoom team. You guys did a great job.Michael Martel
Had Zoom Drain scope an outside drainage pipe under my driveway. Evan explained the process, marked all the problem areas, and provided a thumb drive with the scope video on it. Offered other services to fix problems, but I already have a fix in place. This is the second time I have used Zoom Drain and will definitely use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.Peter Kelley
Prompt, quick, and thorough. They were great communicators of what they were doing at every step and gave me a plan and options for the future. Even though my issue wasn't drain related (thank goodness!), I'm so glad I had them come out. Worth the expense for the security.Christina Michaud
Came out same day and was able to get the clog free and the camera down the drain that no one else could do. Now we know who to call from now on.Crystal Cartonio
Most wonderful experience! Joe, the technician from the Scarborough location, really knew his stuff and did great work. Would recommend to anybody.Thomas Stone
Joe was great!! He was super thorough, knowledgeable, and honest. He answered all our questions and discussed different options with us. We'll be requesting him in the future. I liked the flat-rate pricing as opposed to an hourly rate. It helps you know what you're getting upfront. I know they've got to pay workers extra for off-hours and holidays, but the emergency fee still did seem a bit exorbitant. But maybe it's standard for the industry. I don't have enough experience to know. They were at least upfront and clear about it. We'll still be calling them again, though, for more yearly service, and we'll just hope to avoid emergency calls in the future.Jessica Zee Price
