Why a Clogged Drain in Denver Is More Than an Inconvenience
Slow or standing water in tubs, showers, sinks, and floor drains can signal buildup inside your pipes or a developing blockage in your main sewer line. Left alone, that blockage can lead to overflows, water damage, and unsanitary conditions that disrupt daily life or halt business operations.
Many Denver properties have basements or lower-level bathrooms. When a main line backs up, floor drains on those lower levels are often the first place water surfaces, putting flooring, furniture, and stored items at risk. For businesses, that can mean interrupted restrooms and break rooms at the worst possible moment.
Denver’s bentonite clay soils shift with seasonal moisture, stressing buried sewer laterals and opening joints where roots intrude. Freeze-thaw cycles along the Front Range narrow lines and stress fittings in older pipe materials. Denver Water’s supply ranges from soft to moderately hard, and mineral scale builds steadily on pipe walls, compounding grease and hair accumulation over time. Properties with even a partial main-line blockage face elevated basement flooding risk during spring snowmelt and summer thunderstorms.
Gurgling sounds, recurring slow drains, and foul odors are early warnings that something is developing out of sight. Catching these signs early can reduce the risk of more disruptive and costly repairs down the road.
Why Choose Zoom Drain of Denver South for Clogged Drain Service
When you call someone to clear a clog, you want it handled quickly and correctly. At Zoom Drain of Denver South, our work is centered on drain and sewer services rather than general plumbing. That focus means our technicians spend their days solving exactly the kinds of drain problems you’re facing right now.
Our team goes through extensive training on drain cleaning and sewer systems, along with the advanced equipment we use. Technicians are background-checked and drug-tested, so you know exactly who is walking through your door. We arrive in fully equipped trucks stocked with cables, high-pressure water jetting units, and video inspection cameras, which means most issues can be resolved in a single visit.
Flat-rate pricing is a core part of how we work. Before we begin, we explain the recommended service and the price so you know what to expect, with no hidden fees. We back our work with warranties and ongoing support, so if problems return, you’re not left on your own.
We treat every home and business with care: appropriate protective gear, floor coverings where needed, and a full cleanup before we leave. Our goal is to leave your space as we found it, with drains that flow the way they should.
How We Fix Clogged Drains
When you contact Zoom Drain of Denver South, we schedule a convenient arrival window and communicate clearly so you know when to expect a technician at your door.
Assessment & Diagnosis
Once on site, our technician asks questions about what you’ve noticed and when it started. They check multiple fixtures to determine whether the issue is isolated to one drain or tied to a larger section of pipe or the main sewer line. That initial assessment drives the right approach.
Cleaning & Inspection
For many clogged drains, professional-grade mechanical cleaning tools break up and remove the blockage efficiently. When buildup along pipe walls or heavy debris is present, we may recommend hydro jetting, which uses a high-pressure stream of water to scrub the inside of the pipe and is particularly effective against grease, sludge, and root intrusions.
If your property has recurring clogs or signs of a deeper issue, we may suggest a video camera drain inspection. A small camera is inserted into the line to show pipe condition and the exact location of cracks, roots, or sags, removing guesswork and giving you clear information about next steps. After cleaning, we run water through the system to confirm flow, tidy the work area, and walk you through our findings before leaving.
Drain Problems Specific to Denver Properties
A clogged drain in Denver often has roots in conditions particular to this region. Many established neighborhoods were built with clay tile, cast-iron, or Orangeburg sewer lines, and homes built before 1970 are especially likely to have original pipe materials vulnerable to root intrusion and scale buildup. Tree roots find their way into joints and cracks in aging clay lines, and freeze-thaw cycles create low spots where debris collects year after year. Bentonite clay soils across the metro shift with seasonal moisture, stressing sewer laterals further, while mineral scale from the area’s moderately hard water combines with grease and hair to progressively narrow lines. Snowmelt and spring storms strain yard drains, exterior stairwell drains, and driveway drains. When these exterior lines clog with leaves, dirt, or sand, water can pool against foundations or seep into garages and basements.
Restaurants and food service operations face frequent main-line buildup from grease, food particles, and heavy usage. Multi-tenant buildings sharing stacks and main lines face compounding blockage risk as partial obstructions grow with each flush.
Our team understands how these local conditions show up in real properties. We use video inspections and drain cleaning methods well-suited for older pipe materials, heavy tree coverage, and high-traffic commercial sites, and we can discuss planned maintenance programs matched to the specific needs of your building.
What to Do When Drains Back Up
A sudden backup is stressful, but a few quick steps can limit damage and make your service visit smoother.
Here are practical actions to take before we arrive:
- Stop using water in affected fixtures and nearby bathrooms or sinks.
- Keep people and pets away from standing water, especially around floor drains.
- Avoid chemical drain cleaners, which can damage pipes and create safety concerns for our technicians.
- Check whether other drains are slow or gurgling and note what you observe.
- Gather basic information: when the issue started and any history of past drain problems.
When you call Zoom Drain of Denver South, our team can talk through what you’re seeing and provide guidance specific to your situation before dispatching a technician prepared to assess and resolve the problem.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Quickly Can You Clear My Clogged Drain?
We work to respond as quickly as possible, and many appointments are scheduled the same day depending on availability. Our trucks arrive ready to start, so most clogged drains can be handled in a single visit. We’ll share specific timing when you call.
How Much Will Clogged Drain Service Cost?
We use flat-rate pricing, so you know the cost before work begins. The price depends on the location of the clog and the method needed to clear it. Our technician can explain the recommended service, answer your questions, and get your approval before starting any work.
How Do I Know If It’s a Sewer Line Problem?
If multiple fixtures are backing up, especially on lower levels, there’s a good chance the main sewer line is involved. Our technicians assess how different drains behave and may recommend a video camera inspection to confirm what’s happening inside the pipe before recommending a solution.
Can You Help If This Drain Keeps Clogging?
Yes. Because we focus on drains and sewers, we regularly handle recurring clogs and look for the underlying cause, whether that’s buildup, pipe damage, or root intrusion. Hydro jetting and video inspections help us work toward longer-lasting solutions, and we can discuss a planned maintenance program to keep things flowing going forward.
Will Your Technicians Protect My Home or Business?
Our technicians work carefully throughout every visit. We use appropriate protective measures, including floor coverings where needed, and clean up the work area before leaving. The goal is for your space to feel cared for and your drains to be working properly when we go.

Had a secondary clog from the kitchen sink, causing two clogged, overflowing sinks in the basement. Was recommended Zoom Drain (Denver South) from someone else. Decided to give them a try. Saul and his teammate Jayden came to service us. Saul spoke very, very well and professionally. He knew what he was doing. Gave me options and estimates before the service. Then a few moments later, no more clogging up in the sinks and we are back in business. These two gentlemen were super professional and positive. I will use Zoom Drain again in the future to clear out any clogs or clear some lines. It’s super hard to find service like this nowadays. Thank you, Saul and Jayden.Justin T.
James was great. He explained everything and gave options to get our mainline back up and running.Becky McCann
Thorough and professional, came out right away, which is very good.Carol Esterbrook
This was easy to schedule. Shawn was social, kind, respectful of our home and of our budget. He did an efficient job and was very responsive to our questions. We had the drain snaked and a quote about sewer repair (which is not needed).Laurie Callahan
We had a clogged French drain that was causing water to pool at the foundation. James did a great job digging through our landscaping rock to find the clogged drain pipe. The pipe was completely filled with roots and sediment, so he set up a temporary drain until we are able to complete a permanent fix.Monica Fitzwater
Had a clogged toilet. The technician came out and promptly fixed the issue and was diligent in both being professional about his work and tidy by wiping things down afterward and not having toilet water all over my floor after clearing the clog and having his tools about. The staff listened to the issues I was having with the toilet and came prepared with parts in stock in their truck for the fill valve they replaced, saving us both time rather than them having to make a trip to the hardware store. Allan/Allen was diligent and professional in doing his job. Great work.Jonathon Burnett
Alen came to my house today and did a terrific, professional, quick job. Zoom Drain's fees are very fair, and a little lower than the big guys. I recommend them. - PhilPhilip Antonson

Shawn and Saul were courteous and professional. They identified the source of the problem. The job was more difficult than originally anticipated. Saul was very knowledgeable and informative. He is an asset to your company.Michele
Saul was awesome! Communicated well, professional, and efficient. Thank you for fixing my problem ASAP!Artemis
Shawn came out and located a cracked ABS drain from our washer running above our garage. He checked the water line first and made some cuts in our garage ceiling that initially weren't necessary to fix the pipe, but we are definitely thankful for it because he found years' worth of black mold that could have caused bigger problems in the future. Shawn was very professional and showed/explained what he was doing, his reasoning for doing so, and his findings. He recommended a few other companies to take a look at the mold issue and drywall.Cameron
JD was great! He was professional, dependable, and left me feeling confident that the work was well done. Thanks to him, I will use this company again.Sue Hastings
